Villa Campuhan - Villa Campuhan, the real Bali in East BaliPrint this page

Welcome to Villa Campuhan

Nestled where two fresh-water rivers run into the Lembok Straights of the Indian Ocean. Designed by Linda Garland, built by a team of Sumatran master carpenters, no expense was spared in making the villas environmentally friendly and seamlessly integrated into the natural setting.

VILLA AGUNG

Framed perfectly on the 12,000-foot spectacle of Mt. Agung, Bali's major and most holy volcano, Villa Agung is 2500 square feet of Indonesian luxury. Featuring deluxe his and her bathrooms, a two-person  tub, living room, hand-hewn teak floors and king-sized bed, this villa was designed to house those who require the very best. It's 25-ft. high ceilings, woven bamboo walls and huge sliding windows make it the epitome of living close to the environment.  The ocean thrums 75 feet from the east deck and the sunsets, for early risers, are nothing if not magnificent.

VILLA LUMBUNG

Next to Villa Agung sits Villa Lumbung. "Lumbung" is the Indonesian word for "rice barn" and, indeed, this villa's design was inspired by several Minangkabau storage structures found in Northern Sumatra around Lake Toba. The complex roofline, landscaped setting, high ceilings, and thick ironwood floors, house a lovely space complete with king-sized bed and bathroom with pond and ocean views. It's perfect for a couple or single desiring something intimate and special.

VILLA JASI

Villa Jasi is more spacious than Lumbung. It provides a luxurious home for a couple or small family with a king-sized bed, ironwood floors, and ocean-view bathroom. It has high ceilings sporting pond and ocean views from all its windows. Like the other villas, it has woven bamboo walls, a lava stone shower and abounds with Indonesian antiques and art

VILLA SELAK

"Selak" is a delicious fruit grown in east Bali that tastes like a cross between a pineapple and an apple. It's for the selak's rarity and sweetness this villa was named.  Set across the river for greater privacy with its own 35 ft. long ocean-side swimming pool, this is a Balinese-style house for honeymooners or lovers of any age. It has a large bathroom with a two-person marble tub, a King size bed downstair and a single bed upstair, wrap-around decks and sits not only alongside the river but in front of a large lotus pond complete with yoga deck in the middle. Villa Selak is a world unto itself that enhances the sensual magic of Bali.
(If all that love has resulted in a family, there is another bedroom up a spiral staircase on the second floor with tremendous views and an eagle's nest feeling.)

VILLA TUMAN

"Tuman" means friend in Indonesian and this villa is friendly, indeed.
It is the original house on the property nestled along the clear-water river that flows year-round, falling softly into the sea. It's this feature that gives the overall property its name as "campuhan" translates to "where the river meets the sea." The house was built in the Balinese style with high ceilings and sacred Balinese proportions. The walls are of local stone, the floor is marble, the doors are highly-carved, and a roof is composed of layered  "ylang-ylang" grass. It has a king-sized bed and a bathroom with bathtub, a dressing room and two decks for lounging or lunching. It has both ocean and river views. Close to the front gate and the living room/dining room house, this is a lovely, truly Balinese alternative to the Minangkabau villas that sit beside it.
